Phillipa King holds a BCom LLB from Rhodes University. She obtained a Masters in Marine and Environmental Law from the University of Cape Town in 2009, completing her studies with distinction. Phillipa served her articles of clerkship at Bowman Gilfillan Attorneys and was admitted as an attorney of the High Court in March 2011. During her articles she was exposed to corporate and litigation work, including maritime law, construction law and corporate law. Thereafter, Phillipa joined Smith Ndlovu & Summers (SNS) Attorneys from 2011-2016 where she worked as a Senior Associate. She assisted a wide range of public and private sector clients with environmental law matters. Phillipa joined IMEL in January 2017 to assist with teaching and supervision on its undergraduate and postgraduate Environmental Law Programmes. Her work experience includes land use management, heritage, natural resources, pollution, energy and administrative law issues.
